Hola, I'm Kim - founder of Rancho La Calma

Horses have been part of my life for many years and have profoundly shaped the way I see relationships, responsibility and respect.

Queenie, especially, has been by my side for a very long time. She has accompanied me through different stages of life, kept me grounded, challenged me, and taught me the importance of trust, patience and truly listening. With her, a journey began that continues to shape who I am today.

Jenny and Amber have influenced me in their own unique ways as well. Different personalities, different needs and different strengths, yet every horse is unique. They taught me to see each horse as an individual rather than trying to fit them into the same mould.

Over the years, I have worked in different areas of the equestrian world and experienced both its beautiful and its challenging sides. I have seen what is possible when horses are treated with respect, knowledge and care but I have also seen what happens when performance, time pressure or financial interests are placed above their well-being. Those experiences only strengthened my desire to do things differently. More consciously. More fairly. Always with the horses' best interests at heart.

I believe horses are never a means to an end. They are individuals with their own personalities, boundaries and needs. For me, responsibility doesn't end when the ride is over. It includes the way horses are kept, cared for and every decision we make on their behalf. Quality, patience and long-term thinking will always matter more to me than quick results.

With Rancho La Calma, I fulfilled a dream that had been close to my heart for many years: creating a place in Spain where my horses can live as naturally as possible, where peace, nature and respect come first, and where I can share my passion for horses with others. Not as a concept, but as a way of life. Not perfect but honest.

Rancho La Calma was built from conviction. From the belief that respectful horsemanship and professional standards are not opposites, but belong together. I truly believe that this is the future for the horses, and for the people who want to build a genuine partnership with them.
